I’m not really used to sharing much about my personal life these days. But I think I figured out a way to do it and have some fun reminiscing. I hope to take some of the embarrassment off of myself, by shouting out and sharing the embarrassment with people who were a part of the journey.

I’ll skip all the boring childhood, coming of age stuff. I met some really interesting people in college, are an interesting time. I linked up with one of them and started a magazine. Another one of them was a DJ, who introduced me to some of the first Southern artists I’d met at the time. I later met and interviewed a lot more of them.

So as I was saying… I stared Concrete Magazine with a graffiti artist friend of mine from college. We literally cold-called the label and asked for an interview with Young Buck, because he was about to drop his new album and we were living in his hometown. That phone interview motivated us enough to start the entire magazine. To add some context, we’d thought up the idea at least a year or more before that, but the catalyst to make it a real thing was the interview. We scraped together enough money to print the first edition ourselves. That’s the one you see the World Famous DJ Red Alert reading at the DJ Summit in Puerto Rico in 2005.

I’ll add more soon but that was the beginning of my career as a serial entrepreneur. You may notice a heavy hip-hop influence in the material in the site… if you don’t know, now you know. So expect to see some fun pics and maybe some funny stories (real names omitted, to protect the “innocent”).
